Oakland Coliseum Large vs Small Beer

If you saw our post about the Qwest field beer cup issue then you know what you’re in for with this video. Apparently Qwest Field isn’t the only stadium that is ripping people off when they buy a large beer. The guy in the video above has a small and a large cup, essentially the small is $5 for a beer and the large is $8 for a beer. The small beer is filled almost to the top with water, but once he pours it into the large cup you realize that it’s almost exactly the same amount of liquid to fill the large as it is the small, yet it was $3 more… Now in the case of Qwest Field they have come out and said that they were “accidentally” using the wrong cups for the small beers so in fact those people who ordered a small were getting a better deal… somehow I don’t believe that. It sounds to me like they just got caught so had to come up with some excuse to spin it their way.

If you happen to check out a sporting event at a stadium, arena or wherever, get your hands on a small and large beer cup and see if you got ripped off. I have a feeling this is more widespread than just these 2 stadiums.

Turn Old Beer Bottles Into Drinking Glasses

If you’re looking for a unique way to stock your cabinets with drinking glasses and don’t want to spend a lot of money… and you want to get drunk on top of it, then this trick is for you.

It’s extremely simple to do if you have the right tools, those tools being the following: a piece of string, an empty beer bottle, nail polish remover, a lighter, sandpaper and a sink/bucket full of cold water.

What you’re going to do is take a string and tie it around the bottle where you want to cut it, do this before you soak it so that you can get the correct fit. Next you’ll soak the string in the nail polish remover and place it around the bottle. Light the string with the lighter and pick up the bottle, slowly rotate it around in a circle like you see in the video above. After 30 or so seconds, dunk the top of the bottle into the water and the glass should “pop” from the sudden change in temperature, thus breaking the bottom at it’s weakest point, the place you just heated up.

Before you use your new glass to drink out of you’re going to want to sand down the top edges so you don’t cut yourself when drinking out of them. The video above doesn’t show the sanding part, but hopefully you’re smart enough to know that you’ll cut the hell out of your face if you try to drink out of the freshly broken bottle.

This trick also works with wine bottles (or any bottle really), so if you want to do something creative with those this will work also, although it may require a bit longer burn on the string to heat the bottle a bit more.

Open A Wine Bottle Without A Corkscrew. Tree Version

Have you ever found yourself out in the middle of the woods with a bottle of wine and a glass, but no cork screw? If that sounds like a situation you could possibly find yourself in then this trick is for you.

Essentially all you need to open a wine bottle is a towel, or something to wrap around the bottle so you can get a good grip, and a tree. Just wrap the towel around the bottle and gently, but firmly, hit the bottom of the bottle against the tree and the cork will slowly being to pop itself out. Sure it’ll appear as though you’re giving the tree a hand job, but once it’s done you can finally enjoy that nice glass of wine you’ve been waiting for.

Qwest Field Small and Large Beers Are The Same Size

If you happen to visit Qwest field in the future take note of this video. For $1.25 more you can get yourself a “large” beer which at first glance may appear to hold more liquid, but in actuality the glass is just taller and thinner than the smaller glass creating the illusion that it is holding more liquid, but they both hold the same amount. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were true for most sports stadiums so next time you’re at a sporting event or a concert check to see if the large and small cups hold the same amount of liquid and, if you remember, leave us a comment with your findings.
